*** Melodically I quite like this, especially in the chorus, up until the line "these Wings are made too fly" because as soon as I hear it I start singing the Little Mix song which I much preferred. Other than the melody though this is quite average. Delta has been very hit and miss for me over her career, especially recently, and this unfortunately would be a miss, so I hope it doesn't rise any further on iTunes.
This is an average song, dragged up a notch by the Delta and her infallibility. That said, I don't think this kind of song suits her as well as most of her other songs have. Her strength is in her voice and there's too much going on here to really let her voice shine the way it can and should. She works best with her voice and her piano and maybe something else slightly in the background, not with a thumping dance beat and a cacophony trying to hide her vocals. It's good, but it's Delta, so I want amazing. Frankly, it's the kind of song you fob off to someone useless like Samantha Jade or Dami Im and the only differences would be slightly worse vocals that are barely noticeable and a lot less obligation from me to try and love it.
*** The melodies in the chorus are good, but is there really a need to copy-paste that hook straight in? It's word for word exactly the same as Little Mix, so perhaps the strategy was to confuse people into buying it. Anyway it's still a decent effort from Delta, but she has released far better in recent times. 3.5
***** The similarities to other songs may have been a weakness, but perhaps this has proven to be a strength over time. This is a high energy song from Delta and one of her best. I like the mix up of the faster paced vocals in the verse, then the drop back in the 1st chorus and bridge. Nice combo of violin and piano later in the song. I'm surprised this made #1 in the current chart dynamic but the wonders of promotion did help in that I think.
**** This is actually quite great. I love the high-tempo and forceful energy, something Delta doesn't usually pull off convincingly. The strings/piano bridge is brilliant and the best bit for me. I especially loved her "The Voice" performance of this where she played the introduction of the Grieg Piano Concerto during that bit. Huge kudos for that!
